Margaret CAMERON was convicted at Glasgow, Scotland on 1 May 1843 for assault & battery. Tried with others. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Emma Eugenia' arriving 5 June 1846. Single woman; aged 28 yrs; 4'9 3/4"; housemaid. Native place: Glasgow. Brother: Daniel Sisters: Agnes & Catherine VDL: 6 months Probation. 13 July 1848: Delivered of a child, at Ross Female Factory, VDL. (ref. noted in Convict Record.) Louisa Hobden CAMERON born in the Campbell Town district. Mother - Margaret CAMERON. Father's name not recorded. (ref. 33/1/26 no. 809) 4 Dec 1849: Application for permission to marry - Margaret CAMERON (per 'Emma Eugenia') to William BOOTH (free or free by servitude). Approved. (ref. 52/1/3 pg 23) 31 Dec 1849: MARRIAGE - Margaret CAMERON aged 33 yrs, house servant, spinster- William BOOTH, aged 70 yrs, butcher, widower. At the Parish Church, Church of England & Ireland, Oatlands, VDL. (ref. 37/1/8 no. 691). 18 March 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. 14 May 1853: Conditional Pardon approved.
