Arthur Carmody was convicted at Galway Assizes in March 1811 for the crime of horse stealing. He was sentenced to death. He was old for the times, aged 60 years. He was respited by the middle of April until further orders, and eventually respited with transportation for life. He died anyway, one of two men on the voyage to NSW. His name was incorrectly reported in the Sydney Gazette on the ship's arrival in February 1813 as "Arthur Culmuddy".
