IN NSW James Connelly had met Hannah Walworth or sometimes "Walwork" by at least the beginning of 1806 and they stayed together, having at least two daughters. They may not have formally married. INDENT ATLAS I - James Connolly, Aged: 21 years Session: Spring, 1801, at Meath arrived 6 July 1802 1806 - Prisoner, Residence: Government, at Parramatta. At 1806 Muster he was living with Hannah Wallworth, listed as wife to James Connolly; Victualling: Off Stores, Children, 2 children off stores. This means there was another child besides infant Hannah baptised December 1806. Ticket of Leave number 200; Feb 1811 - Convicts, residence NSW 31 January 1814 - Conditional Pardon Hannah Walworth or Walwork was baptised in 1806 as the daughter of Hannah Walwork/Walworth and James “COWLEY”. Born 3rd December 1806 and baptism registered at St John’s parramatta on 22 January 1807. This is likely to have been James CONNOLLY, misspelled on hearing the Irish accent. In the 1806 Muster, Hannah Wallworth was listed as ‘concubine” - the term applied to all women living with men even if on a permanent basis - if unmarried. 1812 - registration of baptism of a second daughter, Elizabeth. Born to James “Connelly” and Hannah on 22nd February 1812. Baptised aged one year on 21st February 1813 by Rev Robert Cartwright, registered at St Matthew’s Windsor. Said to ba aged 18 yrs in the 1828 Census. October 1814 - Free, Landholder, mustered at Windsor. Victualled off stores Hannah Wallworth, listed as wife to James Connolly; Victualling: Off Stores, Children, 2 children off stores. Sept 1822 Landholder, Richmond. Hannah Walworth’s listing (as “Warwick”) as wife of J Connolly and living at Windsor. Sept 1825 Landholder Richmond. Hannah Walworth’s listing (as “Warwick”) as wife of J Connolly and living at Windsor. 1828 Census James Connolly aged 50. Catholic per Atals I. Flax Dresser. Conditional Pardon. Householder, Richmond return district. ALSO Hannah “Connelly” or WALWORK aged 52, Catholic per Experiment 1804. 7 years. Free by Servitude. in Householder of James Connelly, Richmond. Addition ALSO daughter Elizabeth Connelly aged 18, BC, Catholic

JAMES CONNOLLY, Michael Byrne, James Hoey, Francis Gilligan, Patrick Gilligan, and Patrick Shannon were “tried for different burglaries, robberies and felonies, found guilty and ordered for execution.” "In the cases of the Gilligans, Hoey and Connolly, Lord Norbury caused the Grand Jury to be called and directed them to present a sum of l10 to each prosecutor for their gallant conduct in defending their cxxxages, and prosecuting these offenders to conviction. His Lordship at great lengths stated the advantages that must result to the country at large from such conduct in the lower orders." All were transported for life except for: * Patrick Gilligan and patrick Shannon - not transported (executed?) * Michael Byrne transported on Atlas 1 departing 28 November 1801, arriving 6 July 1802 * Francis Gilligan transported on Atlas 1 * James Connolly transported on Atlas 1 James Hoey, transported on Hercules departing 29 November 18001, arrived 26 June 1802 FROM: Freemans Journal 1763-1924, Saturday, March 21, 1801 "Trim Assizes, Meath Trials before Lord Chief Justice Norbury Continued Wednesday March 18th."
