FOOTNOTE: Newspaper reporting of his trial: Glasgow Courier -- 1 May, 1856, p2: "The time of the Court was occupied during the greater part of the day with a charge against Thomas Conroy, late Inspector of Police, for having, on the 29th of January last, while in a spirit-shop in High Street, stolen a banker's note for £100 from Michael Skullen, the proprietor of the shop.
