Mary Considine was transported on the Rolla, departing 4th Nov 1802 and arriving 12th May 1803 with 161 passengers.

On Thursday arrived the Ship Rolla, Captain John Cummings, from Ireland, with Prisoners of both sexes, viz. 119 Men and 37 Women: Seven of whom died on the passage; and the day after her arrival landed some of those who were weakly, at the General Hospital. She left Ireland the 4th of November, arrived at Rio de Janeiro on the 15th of January, sailed from thence the 6th of February, and in 95 days after came to an anchor in Port Jackson. During the latter part of the passage she experienced much bad weather; in the course of which, she sprung her main?mast and carried away her main?yard. She brings, for the use of Government, 234 pieces of Pork, 686 Casks of Flour, and 11 Tons of Sugar. Sydney Gazette, 15 May 1803.

[Noted a Stephen (Lowens arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 2 1814 after a voyage of 6months on GENERAL HEWETT. He married Jane (Shaw LORD WELLINGTON 1820) on 26 6 1820 at St Johns CofE Parramatta.]

Family connections for Mary (Considine) are: CONSIDINE Mary (Considine//ance/Cusadine) was born about 1778. She was tried at Ennis Clare Co. Assizes Ireland in 1801, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 12 5 1803 after a voyage of 4months on ROLLA; she was Catholic. She married John (Masterson) on 6 4 1807 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced 6children. She was Free by Servitude by 1812. She may have had a first or second relationship with a ??? (Lowns); Noted a Stephen (Lowens GENERAL HEWETT 1814). She was recorded in 1828 lodging with her daughter Jane (McGuire) in Castlereagh St Sydney. She died on 31 7 1837 age59 & was buried at St John the Baptist Catholic church with her husband. [Some details taken from this Website] John (Masterson) was born about 1767 & became a blacksmith. He was tried as an Irish rebel at Longford Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a political convict on 11 1 1800 after a voyage of 4.5months on MINERVA. He was Free by Servitude by 1812. He was recorded as landholder at Liverpool on 1 7 1813. He died on 27/8 7 1827 age62 & was buried at St John the Baptist Catholic church with his wife. Mary LOWNS formerly MASTERSON nee CONSIDINE in buried in the grounds of St John The Evangelist Catholic Church next to her husband John MASTERSON. The date of death is 31 July 1837.

Mary and John had 6 children between 1804 and 1820. It would appear that John died in 1827, he is not recorded in the 1828 Census. Sainty & Johnson; 1828 Census of New South Wales: [Page 264, Ref M2026] Masterson, Mary, 48, free by servitude, Rolla, 1801, 7 years, Catholic, lodger with Jane McGuire, Castlereagh Street Sydney. Three children also recorded.... [Ref M2023] Masterson, John, 12, born in the colony, at David Hannan, Botany. [Ref M2024] Masterson, Elizabeth, 14, born in the colony, resides with F. Kenny, Lake George, G. Plains. [Ref M2025] Masterson, james 8, born in the colony, servant to Thomas Burn, Airds. Daughter Mary Ann is also recorded with her husband, David Hannam. (they married March 1828). [Ref H0397] Hannan, Mary, 17, BC, at Botany.

John Masterson of the parish of St John Parramatta and Mary Considance were married in the church by banns this sixth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and seven by me Henry Fulton. John and Mary both signed the register with their X marks in the presence of Thomas Cosier who signed the register and Jane Walker who made her X mark.

Mary Considine, aged 25 was tried in 1801 at Ennis, Clare, Ireland and sentenced to a term of seven years' transportation. She was transported aboard the ship 'Rolla' arriving in the colony on 12 May 1803. John Masterson of the parish of St John Parramatta and Mary Considance were married in the church by banns this sixth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and seven by me Henry Fulton. John and Mary both signed the register with their X marks in the presence of Thomas Cosier who signed the register and Jane Walker who made her X mark. Fairly soon after her arrival she commenced a relationship with John Masterton (Convict, Minerva, 1800). John was a transported Irish Rebel.
