John Corrigan was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 14th Jul 1816 and arriving 20th Dec 1816 with 150 passengers.

Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

John CORRIGAN – per Surry 1 (2), born 1783, native place Co Tipperary, labourer; tried 1815 at Tipperary and sentenced to 7 years, was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, on 11 January 1816 (prisoner #2378, committed by Sgt Moore). He was discharged from the jail on 16 May 1816 to be “sent on board the convict ship” (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1815-1910).

John Corrigan was convicted at Tipperary, Ireland and given a 7yr transportation sentence. Travelled to New South Wales, Australia on the ship 'Surrey' arriving 1816. Aged 33yrs Trade - labourer Native place - Tipperary
