Hugh Earl was 40 years old, single, 5'10 1/2" tall, light brown hair, hazel eyes, sallow complexion middling stout, mole on right cheek and semi literate. Hugh was involved in the "Murderous Affray at Brocklewath", along with William Robinson (also on the Clyde) and others. A man was killed. 20/9/1869: CP 8/3/1872: COF 22/1/1877: To London per "Zephyr". About this time William Robinson who was also a blacksmith, started advertising for a new blacksmith, so perhaps Hugh Earl was working for Robinson until he left for London.
