Convict Notes

James Edwards and Frances Ham never married yet they had 5 children together: Emma Louise Edwards b.1847; Frances b.1849; twin boys Thomas and William Edwards b.1852 and Mary Ann Edwards b.1856. The first four were registered as Carter and only the last child was registered as an Edwards. The first four all assumed the name Edwards as adults, the youngest child is the only one who didn't survive and is buried in Broke cemetery as were both James and Frances. They spent their lives together as verified by James' Will dated 4 Jan 1876, where Frances was his primary beneficiary. He never remarried after Ann Epton Ham. It was his nephew also named James Edwards who married Mary Butler. Documentary evidence verifies all the above.
