Evan Evans burgled my gggg grandfather William Pickrell on 8th Sept 1819 at The Star Inn, Ystradyfodwg, Wales, UK. A fight must have ensued and Evan was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to death at Glamorgan Great sessions. His sentence was later commuted to life and transportation to Australia. He was initially imprisoned on the hulk Justicia at Woolwich on the Thames before being transported to Australia on the ship Elizabeth in August 1820. He arrived on 31st Dec 1820 and was assigned to Dr Redfern at Airds, Campbelltown.
