Cambridge Chronicle and Journal Cambridgeshire, England 5 Aug 1825: SUFFOLK ASSIZES Thomas Cooper Firman (aged 23) was indicted for breaking into the house of William Kitson the elder, of Stoke by Nayland, and stealing a watch and between seven and eight pounds, the property of William Kitson the younger. The robbery was committed during the absence of the inmates of the house at divine service. The prisoner was seen loitering about the house with James Bouttell, previously convicted of the offence, and on search being made at the house where both of them lodged, a purse containing the property was thrown out of the window. The prisoner absconded, and was not taken till the 21st of June. He was found guilty, and the Judge informed him that he would be transported for life. Thomas was listed as 22? years old on arrival. Native Place: Suffolk. Thomas was protestant, single, 5'4ΒΌ" tall, dark ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes, well. Assigned to Wm. Hayes, Farmer, Melville. 1/4/1834: TOL, Allowed to remain in the District of Seven Hills, Parramatta Bench. 12/10/1835: TOL altered to Bathurst. 1/1/1841: CP 1872: NSW BDM - Thomas C Firman died at Dubbo, NSW - Mother listed as Sarah.




Thomas Grimsey, aged 21, and John Mann, aged 27, were indicted for a highway robbery on the person of John Raynham, of Kersey. Sarah Barnes, one of the persons concerned in this offence, was convicted at the Lent Assizes, and sentenced to be transported for life. Bury and Norwich Post, 3 Aug 1825. Yesterday (Tuesday) four convicts were removed from our Gaol to be put on board the Leviathan hulk, lying in Portsmouth harbour, namely, Wm. Barton, Thomas Cooper Firman, and Thomas Grimsey, to be transported for life; and Wm. Gill, for 14 years. Bury and Norwich Post, 7 Sept 1825.
