Jane Fitzgerald was transported on the Charlotte, departing 13th May 1787 and arriving 22nd Jan 1788 with 111 passengers.
Being 335 tons, 105 ft long and 28 ft at the beam, The Charlotte held 88 male and 20 female convicts. Built in 1784 and Skippered by Master Thomas Gilbert, her return to England saw her doing the London - Jamacia run until she was sold to a Quebec merchant in 1818 and was then lost off the coast of Newfoundland that very same year.

She had a first relationship with William (Mitchell) & produced 3children. She arrived on Norfolk Island with her children on 13 3 1790. She left Norfolk Island with her family on 25 12 1807. Did she go to UK with her husband? in 1810. Noted a Jane (Mitchell nee Fitzgerald) is recorded as buried on 2 9 1806 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.] Jane (Fitzgerald does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me.] William (Mitchell) was born in Cork Ireland. He arrived in NSW as a marine on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 8months on First Fleet ship CHARLOTTEalso; he was 5.63'. He may have had a second relationship with convict Mary Ann (Boyle). He arrived on Norfolk Island on 4 11 1791. He was granted 60acres on Norfolk Island in 1791. On 11 4 1793 he enlisted as Corporal in NSW Corps at Sydney. On 10 12 1794 he was granted 18acres at Cockle Bay. (he may also have been the grantee of any of 50acres Georges River 1799: 110acres Bankstown 1800: 60acres Norfolk Island 1801.) He was discharged on 24 7 1798. He left Norfolk Island with his family on 25 12 1807. However he returned to UK with the Regiment in 1810 after producing perhaps 4children.
