Bernard Fitzpatrick, age 28, Per Providence I (1811) Tried 1809 at Dublin City, sentence, Life. DOB. 1783 ------------------------------------------------ In reference to a paragraph on the subject of the recent gaol-breaking, which appeared in a late number of the Gazette, wherein it was stated that a constable named Fitzpatrick was dismissed for neglect of duty on that occasion, we would wish to intimate, as there is another constable of the same name, that the man alluded to is not Bernard Fitzpatrick, who has, for the last nine years, been an extremely efficient and active constable, and is at present a conductor in the Police establishment, - but to other person, who was attached exclusively to the gaol. Sydney Gazette, 25 Dec 1825. ------------------------------------------------ Mr. Bernard Fitzpatrick, for 13 years in the Sydney Police and nine in the Court of Requests Office as chief bailiff, has retired from public duty to enjoy a green old age in quiet and retirement. Mr. F. we understand has memorialised His Excellency to grant him a pension for his twenty-three years services, and we opine that Sir George Gipps will not reject the prayer of the petition. Sydney Monitor, 8 Aug 1838. ------------------------------------------------ There are many reports mentioning his work in the police and as a Bailiff, which can be found on TROVE.
