1018 ton ship built in Sunderland 1852/53. Two (2) voyages to Australia with convict transportee's - both to Western Australia. On these voyages, she also carried 'Pensioner Guards' and their families, a few free passengers and soldiers. The 1862 voyage went via Bermuda and picked up British and local prisoners.

After arriving James worked as shepherd Vasse, Wellington, Sussex areas until 1875. He was 5'2" dk brown hair blue eyes round face fresh complexion stout & had a large scar near left eye. He was certified free in 1872. From 1872-75 he was in Wellington, Sussex division WA & also worked as a miner. In 1875 he moved to NSW.




James was born 1840 & was a miner before being convicted of robbery at Agra. He was semi literate Protestant when he left Gavesend & was merited very good conduct on board ship. 1868=Ticket of Leave - 1872=Conditional Pardon working cutting firewood labourer general servant shepherd sawyer Wellington Sussex district Western Australia.
