Likely to be an earlier arraignment for the same William Gates: Appears on: A CALENDAR of the PRISONERS Confined in His Majesty’s three Gaols of Durham, Newcastle, and Northumberland, to take their Trials, February and March, 1830, before the Honourables SIR JAMES ALLAN PARK, and SIR JAMES PARKE, Knights. DURHAM GAOL WILLIAM GATES, aged 56, ELIZ. GATES, aged 18, charged with having at Gateshead unlawfully uttered and paid to Ann Newton, a counterfeit half-crown. [Original of the Calendar sold at auction in Melbourne 2022. Age is thus, so possibly born earlier than 1811.]
