John was 5’8” tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, red whiskers, protestant, literate, hazel eyes, scar on forefinger right hand, scar 2nd finger left hand, hair thin on top of head, stout made, married.

22/9/1854: Permission to marry Jane Lane, (Angelina 1844) he was 50 and a widower, she was 44 and a widow.
20/11/1854: Married at Oatlands.
1859: John was the overseer of a Road Party at Jericho.
