John Gilberry was 52 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for "Stealing a duck" John was 5'8" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, red whiskers, protestant, literate, hazel eyes, scar on forefinger right hand, scar 2nd finger left hand, hair thin on top of head, stout made, married. 1/5/1849: TOL 24/10/1851: Free Certificate. 22/9/1854: Permission to marry Jane Lane, (Angelina 1844) he was 50 and a widower, she was 44 and a widow. 20/11/1854: Married at Oatlands. 1859: John was the overseer of a Road Party at Jericho. No date of death found.
