James Gillin, per William Miles, Tried at Hereford Ass. 18 Aug 1827, Life. Transported for House breaking. Gaol report- unknown. An old soldier, orderly. Hulk report, orderly, single, Stated this offence, Stealing 2 0???? I was not tried for Housebreaking. I was 2 months in for drunkenness, I was kept to hard labour and returned to my Master. I was 10 years and 6 months in the 6th Dragoon Guards on lancers?. I was discharged. I was coachman to Capt. Johnson of the same Regt. Many entries on list on conduct record, including a conviction at Q.S. 20 April 1835, when he was imprisoned with hard labour for 3 years.
