convicted of killing his wife by beating her. His 10 year old son gave evidence against him. He left behind 6 children His son John Harte and other children later joined him in NSW. He was described as having excellent reading and writing skills He was recommended for an absolute pardon 1842 (Who do you Think You Are Ron Barassi)
