James Haws/Hawes was 22 years old and came from Northamptonshire. He was a Soldier & Farm Labourer. 1839: TOL Wellington 8/2/1841: Was stabbed in the neck (but survived) by Bridget Tinter alias Bridget Sheridan. They were drunk at the time. 31/3/1841: TOL Cancelled for pilfering. 17/5/1841: Police Office, Wellington. - The undermentioned property of James Hawes, Ticket of Leave holder, who has been convicted of a felony, will be sold at the Police Office, Wellington, on the 21/6/1841 at 12 noon. Wearing apparel Pictures Shot and other articles. John Jones, Chief Constable. 24/5/1841: Died aged 32 at Newcastle Hospital. He belonged to the East Maitland iron gang.
