Family connections for Henry (Headley) are: HEADLEY ??? (Heatley/Hately) & ??? (???) produced at least 2children: 1.Joseph (Hately/Headley/Heatley/Hatley/Yately) was born in 1775 & became a tailor. He was tried at Warwick Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 2 6 1797 after a voyage of 9months on GANGES. He was Free by Servitude by 1806 & married Rosanna (Subborn) on 20 7 1806 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He died in 1838 age63 owning a shop & residence at George St Sydney & cattle at Camden. ..[Some details taken from this Website] .. 2.Henry (Head/tley/Hately) was born in 1784 & became a groom & house servant. He was tried for horse theft at York Assizes, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW on 27 7 1807 after a voyage of 6months on DUKE OF PORTLAND. In 1807/8 he was employed by John (Palmer). He married firstly Carolin/e/yn (Laycock/Hancock/Haycock/Haylock her sixth relationship) on 7 5 1810 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 1 3 1811. She was tried for petty larceny at Westminster London Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 9months on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALES; she was 5'1" dark sallow complexion brown hair hazel eyes. She had a first relationship (1of6) with Robert (Hosburn) in January 1788. She had a second relationship (2of6) with Robert (Bruce). She married thirdly (3of6) Mark (Turner) in 1792. She is recorded in 1806 as employed by William (Shepherd), with whom she had her fourth (4of6) relationship. She had a fifth relationship (5of6) with William (Smyth) & produced a child. She is recorded in 1814 as wife of Henry (Heatley). She was issued her Certificate of Freedom on 4 12 1823. In 1828 she is recorded as with Henry (Heatley) with 1child. Thomas McCann and Henry Headley, two of the men mentioned in the Government and General Orders as having forfeited their Conditional Pardons by eloping from this Colony in 1814, are again returned to this Settlement with other prisoners in the ship Minerva. Hobart Town Gazette, 13 Jun 1818.

GOVT. AND GENERAL ORDERS. SECRETARY’S OFFICE, SYDNEY, Saturday, 25th April, 1818. Civil Department. WHEREAS Thomas McCann, a Convict under Sentence of Transportation for Life, who arrived by the Ship Minorca in the Year 1801 ; and Henry Headley, also a Convict under Sentence of Transportation for fourteen Years, who arrived by the Ship Duke of Portland in 1807, obtained Conditional Pardons, bearing Date respectively the 4th of February, 1812, and the 1st of March, 1811. And whereas the said Thomas M’Cann and Henry Headley, not regarding the express Condition whereon the said Pardons were extended to them; but in Disobedience to and Violation of the same, absconded from this Territory in the Year 1814; and having been apprehended and returned hither by Order of the Government of India per the Brig Greyhound, which arrived on the 4th Instant ; It is hereby publicly notified, by Order of His EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR, that the said Conditional Pardons, so forfeited, are cancelled as null and void. And the said Thomas M’Cann and Henry Headley are each of them henceforth to be considered as Convicts, “for and during the Term of their original Sentence or Order of Transportation, or as if said Remissions had never been granted.” And whereas the two following Persons, under limited Periods of Transportation, effected their Escapes from this Colony on board the Ship Windham, on the 5th of June, 1814, and have been in like Manner apprehended and returned hither ; namely, William Chapman, Convict for seven Years, arrived per Ship Admiral Gambier in 1808 ; and Charles Riley, Convict for seven Years, arrived per Ship Guildford in 1812:-And the said William Chapman and Charles Riley, having thereby deserted from the Services to which they were respectively assigned to this Government, for the unexpired Periods of their original Sentences of Transportation ; it is ordered and directed, by the authority aforesaid, that they and each of them do now fulfil and make good the omitted Terms of their Servitude ; and as a Punishment for their said Offence, His EXCELLENCY is pleased to order and direct, that each of them shall be continued and considered, after the Expiration of his Sentence for the full and complete Term of one Year, as a Prisoner of the Crown, in like Manner as if his original Sentence had not expired. Henry was also known as Henry Hately. He spent time in van Dieman's Land where he had three children with Mary Hogan.
