Family connections for Mary (Hoey) are: HOEY Mary (Hoey/Hoy) married firstly Bryant (Murphy) about 1812 in Ireland & produced 4children. She was tried at Wexford Ireland in 1812, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 2 1813 after a voyage of 9months on ARCHDUKE CHARLESalso.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] Bryan/t (Murphy) was born about 1772. He was tried at Wexford Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 2 1813 after a voyage of 9months on ARCHDUKE CHARLES; he was Catholic. He is recorded in 1825 Free by Servitude labourer Sydney with his children. He is recorded in 1828 as labourer employed by George (Sunderland) at North Richmond. He died in 1837 age65. [Some details taken from this Website] .. >>>Mary/Mellamy (Hoy/Hoey ARCHDUKE CHARLES 1813) emancipist is recorded as marrying secondly Edward (Doyle) on 19 4 1819 at St Johns CofE Parramatta-there must be record of divorce somewhere. She seems to have produced 4children in her lifetime. Edward (Doyle) was born about 1782. He was tried at Dublin Ireland in 1803, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 15 2 1806 after a journey of 5.5months on TELLICHERRY; he was Catholic. He is recorded in 1828 Free by Servitude labourer for Patrick (Martin) at Airds. He died in 1850 age about68. [Some details taken from this Website] Mary (Hoey) & Edward (Doyle) produced 4children-as shown in Smees records-or is this a signal of adoption by Edward (Doyle): 1.Mary (Murphy) was born in 1812. 2.Ann (Murphy) was born in 1814. 3.John (Murphy) was born in 1817. 4.Henry (Murphy) was born in 1819. THE CHILDREN MAY BE THE SAME PEOPLE, BUT WHY RECORD THEM AS SEPARATE PEOPLE? perhaps church records were noted with existing children when the remarriage occurreD-but this noticed on only this occasion. Even so, indications are that the children went with their mother on her marriage; & later returned to their father. Reference: Craig James Smee 'Births and Baptisms Marriages and Defacto Relationships Deaths and Burials New South Wales 1788-1830' ..a complete listing from church & other records in the early colony.
