He remained in Australia; moving to Victoria where he married twice; had a horse ride that rivaled that of the Man From Snowy River (he rode to get a pardon from the governor for a friend); and was tragically killed in the collapse of the New Quartz Mine, Dead Horse, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
