Maria Jacob was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 28th Mar 1840 and arriving 13th Jul 1840 with 214 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

30/10/1839 Bury and Suffolk Herald: Maria Jacob pleaded guilty to stealing from the person of Moses Cole of Lamarsh. 7 years transportation. 17/7/1844: Arrived VDL per 'Waterlily' 27/7/1844: TOL Newcastle (on NSW records) From her Indent: Maria was 31 years old, 5'3ΒΌ" tall, Housemaid/Cook. 4/1/1847: Married Patrick Crofts (Nautilus 1840 to Norfolk Island/3/3/1844 to VDL per Maitland), married at Hobart. No children found. No date of death found.
