John worked last for a Mr. Grey. He had 2 brothers at Stockport, and 1 sister. He was single. 25/2/1824: Public Works - Drunk and disorderly -7 days hard labour. 8/3/1824: Absent from his lodgings after bell ringing last night - 25 lashes 19/3/1824: Found on the premises of (looks like) T H Stocker between 9 & 10 o'clock last night - 50 lashes. 29/6/1824: Escaped over the Barrack wall, absent nearly 2 hours - 50 lashes. 20/8/1824: Public Works: Making away with his Slop Clothing - 50 lashes. 13/4/1825: Absent from PB till about 7 o'clock last evening - repremanded. 27/4/1825: Port Barracks: Charged with being drunk and disorderly - to be sent to Maria Island. 26/2/1827: Disobedence of orders - 12 lashes, Maria Island.
