Robert was 20 years old when transported. So many alias's. 16/8/1834: COF Listed as Hanratty alias Johnston, Hauratly. 19/9/1834: Married Ellen Moran - listed as Robert or Arthur Hanratty. Cannot track how many children. One was Mary born mid 30's at Dungog. On her death certificate her father is listed as Arthur Hanratty, Pig Merchant. 1841: Purchased 2 lots of land at Clarencetown. 9/3/1842: Tried at Maitland for Cattle Stealing - transportation for 14 years. 24/2/1844: Arrived at Norfolk Island. 4/3/1846: To VDL per Lady Franklin from Norfolk Island. Listed as Robert Hanrately: he was then described as 5'3 1/4" tall, ruddy freckled complexion, married, brown hair and whiskers, blue eyes, slightly pockpitted, lost part of forefinger right hand, slight scar over upper lip. 18 months at Port Arthur. 24/7/1849: Recommended for a CP 14/8/1850: Had a TOL - drunk fined 5/- 15/10/1850: CP 10/12/1850: Misconduct - 4 months hard labour. More than likely went to Victoria, could not find his departure, looked under all the aliases. 11/6/1855: The Argus Melbourne: -A warrant has been granted by the Melbourne Bench for the arrest of one Robert Hanratty, for stealing, within a month last past, at Brighton, a spring cart, the property of Jonathan Pemberton. Hanratty is 52 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, ruddy complexion, small whiskers, hair inclined to grey. £3 reward Information to the Detective Office, Collins street, Melbourne.
