William Jones was convicted at Lancaster on 14 Dec 1841 for stealing a watch (previous convictions). 10yr transportation sentence. Ship to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), the 'Isabella' arriving 19/05/1842. Bad report from ship's Surgeon. Aged 21yrs; native place - Devonshire, England. Step father - John Croft Mother - Mary Single Protestant religion Assignment to Coal Mines & various others. Several records of misconduct. Ticket of Leave 14/05/1850 Free Certificate 02/01/1852 (last stationed at Bothwell, Tasmania) Trade - blacksmith
