ADM 101/24/31827-1828 Medical and surgical journal of the Elizabeth convict Ship, for 6 July 1827 to 26 January 1828 by Joseph H Hughes, Surgeon, during which time the said Elizabeth was employed in transporting female convicts from Ireland to Sydney, New South Wales. Folio 20: Ellen Kelly, Convict; sick or hurt, Ulcus naso; put on sick list, 25 December 1827; no discharge date, continues. Folio 17: 1 January 1828, the ship arrived off the coast of New South Wales, the weather remarkably fine and warm, all the sick convalescing. … One patient has a diseased nose from past excesses.
