Andrew Kennedy was transported on the Runnymede , departing 11th Nov 1839 and arriving 28th Mar 1840 with 201 passengers.
The original 'Runnymede' was built in London 1825, 389 tons. Sailing of this ship to Australia with convict transportees, including boy convicts 1839/1840 to Van Diemen's Land. (It appears this ship made other sailings to Australia, as a barque with immigrant passengers.) This Runnymede was wrecked near the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal in 1844. n.b. There is another 'Runnymede' ship. Built in Sunderland in 1854, the 720 ton ship Runnymede II - embarked 248 male convicts at Plymouth on 15 June 1856, landing all in Western Australia on 7 September, after a passage of 84 days - the sailing also had soldier families for settlement there. A 284 ton barque Runneymede of Hobart was wrecked at Frenchman's Bay, on 24 December 1878.

National Records of Scotland Reference AD14/39/254 Title Precognition against James Kennedy, Andrew Kennedy for the crime of theft by housebreaking Dates 1839 Accused James Kennedy, boat builder, Address: Greenock Andrew Kennedy, Address: Market Street, Greenock James Kennedy arrived NSW per 'Maitland 1840" and died 14/11/1840. Andrew Kennedy was 18 years old on arrival; native place: Greenock. Andrew was 4'9" tall, freckled complexion, light red hair, hazel eyes, single. Gaol Report: Often convicted and imprisoned; once 10 days for sugar, 4 months for Housebreaking, and once discharged for breaking windows. 1846: Free Certificate. 1/9/1846: Colonial Times, Hobart: Andrew Kennedy, who was acquitted at the last Criminal Sessions on a charge of burglary in Mr. Wilson s house, shoemaker, in Liverpool-street, WHS now charged with the same offence, and with stealing on the 1st of June a watch, the property of John Wishart, who was in the service nf Mr. Wilson. Evidence, similar to that adduced on the former trial, was then taken, and the jury found the prisoner Guilty of stealing, the Solicitor-General having abandoned the charge of burglary. He was sentenced to seven years' transportation. 14/11/1848: Absconded, reward £2. 10/9/1853: (newspaper date) COF. 20/9/1853: Steerage passenger, Launceston to Geelong and Melbourne per 'Pirate' : Free by servitude.
