John was one of 106 convicts transported on the Albermarle, arriving at Sydney Cove, October 13th 1791.
Quite soon after this he formed a relationship with Esther Stroud (Convict, Sugar Cane, 1793).
They had a son, John born 1794. Clearly they had other children too, possible a daughter mentioned in the 1814 muster and also a James, mentioned in the 1825 Census.

Sarah Leadbetter 9 born in the colony, child of above.
George Leadbetter 8 born in the colony, child of above.

Mary Leadbetter 3 born in the colony, child of above.
John Leadbetter 16 born in the colony, servant to Pat. Byrne Wilberforce.
John Leadbeater free by servitude Albermarle 1791, landholder, Prospect, Parramatta.
It would appear that John was living with the above family but at this stage I have no supporting evidence.
