Walter Leonard was 23 years old on arrival. Native Place: County Meath. Walter was illiterate, Catholic, single, 5'4½" tall, dark sallow complexion, brown hair, chestnut eyes, dark carrotty whiskers, mole on right side of neck, two on back of right side of same, two on left side of throat, three scars on back of fore, and wart on back of little fingers of left hand, scar on cap of left knee, mark of a burn inside of same. 9/1/1845: COF 1845: Married Bridget Duffy (Minerva 1839) at St. Mary's, Sydney. Walter was 29 and Bridget 27. They had 9 children. 15/10/1877: Walter Leonard died at Balmain, NSW, aged 62.




Walter Leonard was born in Clonard Co Meath, married fellow convict Bridget Duffy and lived in Balmain. The book From Meath to Balmain tells their story
