Family connections for Mary (Lewis) are: LEWIS Mary (Lewis) was born in 1801 & became a housemaid. While living at Weybridge she was tried w/1other for stealing from Thomas (Landon) at Warwick Lent Assizes on 27 3 1824, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW on 23 1 1825 after a voyage of 4months on GRENADA; she was 5' 3.25" fair complexion auburn hair grey eyes. She married firstly William (Pamington) on 9 8 1825 at St James CofE Sydney.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] [William (Pamington)/John William (Pennington) was born about 1802. He was convicted at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 23 1 1822 after a voyage of 5months on MARY.] [Some details taken from this Website-for named convict John William (Pennington)] .. >>>Mary (Lewis) married secondly William (James his second (2of3) marriage) with permission on 17 12 1827 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. William Bean (James) was born on 30 10 1808 & baptised on 23 1 1809 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He seems to have had a first (1of3) relationship with Johana (Deacey/Denny her second relationship). He was recorded with his wife in 1828 at Baulkham Hills. He married thirdly Esther/Hester (Beckett her third relationship) in 1832. He died on 11 2 1878 age69 father of 2known children. 27 Mar 1824: Jane Woolley (aged 20) and Mary Lewis (aged 22) at Warwick Lent Assizes were sentenced to transportation for life for stealing from the person of Thomas Landon a promissory note for '10l. &c.' (10 pounds) [Birmingham Gazette 5 April 1824] 17 Dec 1827: Mary married William James (the son of Samuel James and Anne Bean) at St Johns Parramatta by Samuel Marsden. William James is 19 and Mary Lewis is 25 'Grenada', both of Parramatta, with consent of the Governor (as Mary is a convict), witnesses Robert & Ann Davis of Baulkham Hills In the 1828 census: she is Mary James (age 25 convict ship Grenada) with husband William James settler, born colony, age 20 at Baulkham Hills, live stock is one horned cattle Death 1829: She was buried 3 Jun 1829, Mary James abode Baulkham Hills age 28 'A clergyman did not attend the funeral being after the appointed[?] ...'
