Jeremiah's parents were Jeremiah Marsden and Mary Grime. Jeremiah was christened on 7th November 1819. He married Margaret Fitzgerald. Margaret was an Irish famine orphan (born 1833 in Queens County Ireland) who arrived in Port Philip in Melbourne Australia in 1849. Jeremiah and Margaret's first-born child was Mary Jane [born: 1853 in Longwood, Victoria. She married George Forbes who came from Bristol in England on 27th May 1870 in Benalla Victoria. Mary Jane died on 10 Aug 1896 in Wahgunyah, Victoria]. Two of their children, Richard [died on 3 Dec 1866 in Jolimont, East Melbourne, b: 1862 in Longwood, Victoria] and Jeremiah Henry [a baby b: May 1866 in Avenel, Victoria] died in 1866, the same year that their father, Jeremiah died. Eight of nine children of Jeremiah and Margaret were taken into care due to neglect. Richard died 3 weeks after being admitted. OTHER CHILDREN: Catherine Charlotte Marsden. Born on 27 Dec 1854 in Rushworth,Waranga, Victoria. (She married Richard Walters ROSSER b: 6 Jul 1833 in Swansea, Glamorganshire.) Thomas Henry MARSDEN b: 20 Dec 1856 in Longwood, Victoria. (Died: 1896 in Deniliquin, N.S.W. He married Martha Hazel in 1880. Martha came from Norwich, England) James Marsden was born in 1861 in Littlewood in Victoria. Elizabeth Margaret MARSDEN b: 3rd May 1858 in Longwood, Victoria. She married William James Jinnette on 11th July 1876. Witnesses to the wedding in Corowa were Elizabeth's sister Catherine Charlotte with her husband Richard Walters Rosser. William Jinnette was born on 12th November 1838 in Braughill, Armagh Ireland. William and Elizabeth had 14 children. John William MARSDEN b: 9 Jul 1859 in Longwood, Victoria,Australia. He married Marion Moncrieff MELROSE on 27th May 1882 in Cremorne Street, Richmond Victoria. James MARSDEN b: 1861 in Littlewood, Victoria,Australia Margaret Ellen MARSDEN b: 3 Jul 1864 in Longwood, Victoria,Australia. She died in Broken Hill NSW in January 1924. Margaret married John Henry Green (b 16th August 1861 in Spring Hill Creswick Victoria). They married on 25th July 1899 in Longwood in Victoria. They had 7 children.
