Mary Grady was transported on the Tellicherry, departing 31st Aug 1805 and arriving 15th Feb 1806 with 161 passengers.
The 'Tellicherry' - built in 1796 at Thames, England for the East India Company. 467 tons. One sailing to Australia - Ireland to New South Wales in 1805, arriving 1806. 125 (or 130) male and 35 female prisoners, 2 children - 6 deaths. Many on the men on board were political prisoners. Departed from Cork, Ireland. (The register of these persons is NOT yet complete on this website - a work in progress.) In 1807 the Tellicherry was shipwrecked off the coast of the Philippines. The men were rescued and made their way to Manilla.

Colonial Secretary Index. GRADY, Mary. Per "Tellicherry", 1806. 1805 Aug 17 - On list of convicts embarked on board the "Tellicherry" (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.42) -------------------------------------------------- The following trial of a Mary Gardy was reported: Mary Grady, for burglariously breaking and entering the house of Charles Stuart, at Parramatta, between the hours of three and four in the morning of the 22d of May, and stealing therefrom cash and notes to a considerable amount ; the said chest having been taken away with its whole contents. The detection of the prisoner, who could not read, took place from the circumstance of her going to the house of Mr. Hassall on the 30th, and requesting Mr. Hassall's son to read several papers for her, and acquaint her with the contents; among which was a certificate of Charles Stuart's term of transportation being expired, and several very remarkable notes of hand ; all which upon the apprehension of the prisoner, were found concealed in her cap.— Guilty.—She appeared to be about 20 years of age, and did not seem at all sensible of the awful predicament into which her crime had unhappily plunged her.
