Arrived with 177 male Convicts (14 dv) Carried 30 Crew + 41 Marines Master: Duncan Sinclair She was the largest of the eleven vessels of the historic First Fleet to Australia. The First Fleet consisted of two Royal Navy escort ships, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply accompanied by six convict transports, the Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough, and three store ships, the Borrowdale, Fishburn and Golden Grove. Convicts on the 1st Fleet Alexander are listed under Lady Penrhyn, Scarborough & Alexander.

Family connections for Thomas/John (McCarthy/McArthur) are: McCARTHY/McARTHUR Thomas/John (McCarthy/McArthur) arrived in NSW as a convict on 4 4 1816 after a voyage of 5months on ALEXANDER. He was an emancipist when he married Hannah (Hillas her first marriage) on 25 12 1811 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. Thomas/John (McCarthy/McArthur) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me. Hannah (Hillas) was born in 1794 in Yorkshire. She arrived in NSW with her parents on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship NILE. She, as (Hillas/McArthur), had a second relationship with David (Reece/Rees) & produced at least 7children. She produced at least 7children in her lifetime. Details of Hannah (Hillas)s family are given in entry for David (Rees ATLAS 1816) on this Website.
