1846, 14 February: Granted a Ticket of Leave No.46/220 for the District of Queanbeyan (see New South Wales, Australia, Tickets of Leave, 1810-1869; Ticket of leave butts (NRS 12202); Ticket of leave butts, Nov 1845-Mar 1846). 1850, 10 June: Francis McCay, 47, granted a Conditional Pardon No.50/341 (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Registers of Conditional and Absolute Pardons, 1788-1870; Conditional 1850 (Reel 794)).


Francis McCAY (aka McCOY) was 35 on arrival in NSW. He could read and write. A Roman Catholic, he was married with 2 male children, and his native place was Co Donegal (see NSW Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Non-Annotated Printed Indentures 1838).


1837, 15 August: Francis McCay/McCoy was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, from Donegal (prisoner #669). He had been tried on 20 July 1837, convicted and sentenced to life for sheep stealing by Baron Pennefather. He was described as 35, 5’4” tall with hazel eyes, black hair and a dark complexion. 1837, 26 August: Discharged to be “embarked on the convict ship Neptune” (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1815-1910).
