Patrick Mcdonald was transported on the Frances, departing 1st Oct 1859 and arriving 19th Nov 1859 with 1 passengers.
Frances ex Iris, a US whaler wrecked at WA 1855, then salvaged and rebuilt, made her first voyage as Frances to Adelaide in 1856 with 150 passengers. Re-registered at Fremantle in 1859 by new owner Wallace Bickley, she carried horses, coal, minerals, timber etc from WA to India, and passengers both ways (including one convict to WA). The barque was put up for sale at Madras in mid-1866.

COURT MARTIAL: 1859, 1 February: Soldier Patrick McDonald (alias McDonnell) – regiment and rank not provided – was Court martialled at Rangoon, Burma, convicted and sentenced to 14 years’ transportation for an “unnatural crime”; he had been court martialled previously. At some time after his conviction, he was sent to Madras, India, to await transportation. He would be sent to WA on the barque Frances, as the sole convict passenger. --00--
