1842, 12 March: Granted a Ticket of Leave No.42/844 for the District of Queanbeyan (see New South Wales, Australia, Tickets of Leave, 1810-1869;Ticket of leave butts, Jan 1842-Apr 1842).


1843, 4 May: Martin MAGUIRE issued with a Ticket of Leave Passport no. 570, for the District of Queanbeyan, that allowed him to remain in the service of Mr Ward for 12 months (see New South Wales, Australia, Tickets of Leave, 1810-1869; Butts of ticket of leave passports, 1835-1869 (NRS 12204), Butts of ticket of leave passports, 1843).


1837, 19 April: Martin MAGUIRE, 33, was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, as prisoner #512. He was sent from Kilmainham on 26 August 1837 to board the Neptune (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1836-1910).


1837, 15 March: Martin McGuire, 33, born 1804, was admitted to Maryborough Prison, Portlaoise, County Laois on this date. He was listed as prisoner #206, whose crime was "having in possession stolen potatoes". He was described as 5'1" with a swarthy complexion, blue eyes and dark hair. He had been committed by H Burton Esq to appear before John Schoales Esq at the Maryboro [sic] Sessions on 15 April 1837 where he was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years' transportation. On 18 April 1837 he was sent from Maryborough to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924, Laois (Queen's) Maryborough 1827-1883).




Printed Indentures state that Martin McGuire was aged 30 years old; could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status widower with no children. He was a native of Queen's Country and a butcher by calling. He was convicted of stealing potatoes on 15 April 1837 at Queen's County. Physical attributes height 5 feet 0 1/2 inches; complexion very dark and sallow; Hair dark brown and grey eyes. Prisoner number 38-12 and transport number 12. Remarks: Brother Patrick McGuire a prisoner for life and arrived in 1837 per Calcutta.
