Freeman MITCHELL was convicted at Norfolk, England on 20 March 1838 for sheep stealing. Previous offence. 15yr transportation sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per 'Canton' arriving 12 Jan 1840. Married man, wife Mary. 4 children. Trade - a smith' aged 23yrs; 5'6". Native Place - Isle of Ely. Died 1 July 1840 (ref. Convict Conduct Record)
