Tried at the Old Bailey, 15 April 1830. 714. ELIZABETHÂ MOOREÂ was indicted for stealing, on the 6th of April , 1 pair of trousers, value 6s. , the goods of William Goften . JAMES PICKETT . I am servant to Mr. William Gofton , of Gilbert-street . On the 6th of April the prisoner came to his shop and asked the price of a gown; as she went away from the door I saw her take a pair of trousers and put them under her arm - I went and took her with them; I had seen her the day before. MICHAEL HOLDEN . I am an officer. I took the prisoner - she had no money about her. (Property produced and sworn to.) Prisoner's Defence. I was looking at a gown at the door; a woman said, "Hold up your lap" - she put these trousers into it; I hardly knew what I was doing; when young man took me I had some money. GUILTY . Aged 40. - Transported for Seven Years.
