1845, 8 August: Granted a Ticket of Leave, No.45/143, for the District of Yass. A notation on the document says the ToL was cancelled on 31 May 1851 (see NSW, Tickets of Leave, 1810-1869; Ticket of leave butts, Jul 1845-Nov 1845). 1851, 20 June: On a list of "prisoners of the Crown" whose Tickets of Leave have been cancelled due to absence from their various districts: Edward MURPHY per Neptune, absent from the Yass District (see New South Wales Government Gazette, Fri 20 Jun 1851 [Issue No.68], Page 971).


1838: On arrival in NSW, Edward MURPHY was 32. His native place was Co Antrim and he was married with 4 children - a boy and three girls. He was Roman Catholic and could read and write (see NSW Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Non-Annotated Printed Indentures 1838; and http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi).


1837, 17 August: Edward MURPHY, born 1802 (Convict Indents give his dob as 1806), was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, having received a life sentence on 13 July 1837 from Judge Burton for sheep stealing. He was prisoner #691, and described as 5'9" tall with grey eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. He was discharged on 17 August 1837 to be sent aboard the Neptune (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924). OCCUPATION: Ploughman/labourer
