Committed John Lee, John Sherwood, George Murphy, Charles Liddiard, and Henry Field, for re-examination, charged with stealing bridles, &c., the property of William Treen at Beckhampton; Devizes Gazette, 27 July 1848. Wilts Summer Assizes. John Sherwood, I8, George Murphy, 20, Charles Liddiard , 22, and Henry Field, 27, were charged with stealing two curb bridles, &c , the property William Treen; Sherwood, Field and Murphy were also charged with stealing four halters, &c, the property of William Pragnell, Marlborough  and Sherwood and .Murphy with breaking into a stable belonging to Lord William Somerset, Tormortvn , and stealing therefrom two bridles, horse-cloth, and eight bandages, his property. Sherwood, Liddiard, and Field  were acquitted; Murphy was found guilty, and sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Wiltshire Indepenent, 24 Aug 1848. Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette, 11 Jan 1849. During the week the following transports have been removed from the County Gaol to Millbank Prison, London: : Thomas Johnson, Thomas Buckland, Luke Taylor, Geo. Murphy, Thomas White, Broom Slade, and Henry Offer. Salisbury Journal, 3 Mar 1849.
