Folios 10-11: Michael O'Dea, child of Ellen O'Dea; disease or hurt, a sore mouth with a painful swelling inside the right cheek and of the gums. Put on sick list, 6 November 1827. Discharged, 7 December 1827. His mother had held him back some days from seeing the Surgeon, saying he was merely poorly. Found to have been neglected by his mother, his teeth falling out with a thick, tenacious mucus emitting a fetid smell, and he seemed to be in pain. The alveolar processes came loose. The illness attributed by the Surgeon to neglect of cleanliness by his mother and a tendency to scurvy.
