16/9/1862 London Daily News London, England: BRUTAL MURDER AT LIVERPOOL. (BY BRITISH AND IRISH MAGNETIC TELEGRAPH.) LIVERPOOL, MONDAY. A brutal murder has been committed in Derby-street late this afternoon. The victim is James Morris, who had been sent by a man named Byrne to distrain on goods of his (Byrne's) two brothers-in-law, Neil and Charles O'Donnell, furniture brokers. Whilst engaged in removing goods, Morris was stabbed and slain by Neil O'Donnell with a provision dealer's large knife. In the scuffle Neil O'Donnell had two of his fingers nearly cut off. Both the O'Donnells are in custody, Charles for interfering with the police. Seems Charles was not transported - no ship found. Neil o'Donnell was listed as 32 years old on arrival in WA, a labourer, single, 5'4" tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, slight build, birth mark back of right leg, large nose. 24/1/1868: TOL 14/5/1883: Conditional Release, Newcastle. 15/1/1890: Remission Certificate, Toodyay. General servant, Labourer.
