He had prior convictions for; 14 days for worsted, shoplifting~acquitted, handkerchief~acquitted, 1 month for vagrancy, 2 0r 3 times for drunkeness. James was born in Newcastle up on Tyne. His father, James and mother Jane, 2 brothers Thomas and Henry, and 1 sister all living at his native place. James could read and write, was single, fresh complexion, light brown hair, dark brown eyes, medium mouth, nose and chin and many tattoos. Period of Probation ws 20 months and Station of Gang was New Norfolk. 9/7/1850: COF 17/5/1851: James is listed as a Steerage passenger per Shamrock, Launceston~Melbourne. Free by Servitude.
