His son William also transported for uttering forged notes in 1821 (Shipley), as was his daughter Mary in 1827 (Louisa) and another son James (Eliza) for theft in 1828. Joseph was assigned to work as a light house worker at Port Head. He moved to Berrima with his daughter and grandchildren and died there, aged 75 in February 1853 and was buried in Holy Trinity.
