1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

James Palmer was listed as 23 years old on arrival. Native Place: Lowestoft, Suffolk. Father James Martin Palmer 1772-1852. Wife: Hannah Swann 1807-1856. James could read, was married with 1 child, 5'6½" tall, dark ruddy complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, woman and crucifixion on right arm, smaller mark on left, JP and several spots on back of left hand, scar on left thumb and small one left side lower lip. Assignment: Hospital. 19/2/1838: TOL, Allowed to remain in the District of William's River - On recommendation of Port Stephens Bench, dated September 1837. 8/7/1839: TOL - in lieu of 1838 TOL which was lost - altered to Maitland 12/11/1840. Died in South Australia - family tree website - no date given.
