City Sessions. Moses Pangbourn and Elijah Pangbourn, charged with having, at Lewknor, broken and entered the dwelling-house of Amos Day, and stolen 15lbs  of bread, his property ; they also stood charged with having, at Shirburn, broken and entered the dwelling-house of Richard Brooks, and stolen Ib. of bacon, &c,, his property. The Jury Acquitted both prisoners on the first charge; and on the charge of entering the dwelling-house of Richard Brooks, the Jury returned a verdict of Guilty against both prisoners, and two former convictions being put in against Moses, he was sentenced to seven years’ transportation ; Elijah to 21 days’ imprisonment, with hard labour, and to be once whipped. Oxford University and City Herald, 23 October 1847. On Monday last the following convicts were removed to the Millbank Prison from our county gaol, pursuant to their sentences of seven years transportation at the last Michaelmas Sessions, viz., William Towns (27), Moses Pangbourn (16), Thos. Ayres (19), and John Summeraford (12). Oxford Journal, 4 Dec 1847.
