1843, 11 August: Granted Ticket of Leave #43/961 for the Maitland area (NSW Tickets of Leave, 1810-1869 for Francis Pearson; Ticket of leave butts (NRS 12202); Ticket of leave butts, May 1843-Sep 1843).


OCCUPATION: Gardener and labourer 1838:Francis Pearson was listed as 21yo on arrival in NSW (compared with 23 on his 1817 jail record). He was single, Roman Catholic and could read. He was described as 5'3¾" tall, with brown hair, grey eyes and a ruddy freckled complexion. A notation says his brother Michael, a prisoner, was "out about 13 years" and had been sentenced to 7 years transportation (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents, 1788-1842 Non-Annotated Printed Indentures 1838). Note: Michael Pearson, 23 (born 1800), a ploughman, arrived in NSW per Isabella I(3) in 1823. His native place was from Carlow County, where he was tried and sentenced to 7 years' transportation in 1823 (see Irish Convicts at http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi).


1837, 15 August: Francis PEARSON was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, from Carlow (prisoner #667). He was described as 23, 5’5” tall with blue eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. 1837, 19 August: Discharged to be “embarked on the convict ship Neptune” (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1815-1910).
