Absconded. John Perkins, No. 29-2202, Guildford (8), 38, Painter and Glazier, Hants, 5 feet 4½, grey eyes, light brown hair, ruddy comp. from Mr. Clement Cross. NSW Govt Gazette, 11 Jul 1832.


1829: Muster Roll – John Perkins, 32nd Regiment, 37 years old, 5’5” tall, brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion. Country: England; painter and glazier; “very well conducted” (New South Wales, Australia Convict Ship Muster Rolls and Related Records, 1790-1849; 1829; Guildford; images 10 & 19). Note: Image 38 of the Muster Roll document contains a copy of a letter from Charles Kendal Bushe, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland, which states that the General Regimental Court Martial held at Kilkenny found John Perkins’ offence not worthy of capital punishment and instead adjudged “the said John Perkins to be transported as a felon for the term of seven years”. --0--
