Robert Kilty was convicted of an "alleged, or attempted, assault" at Ayr High Court in 1849, his sentence was 10 years transportation to Australia, he received a ticket to leave 7 years later. His birth was not registered, he would have been born about 1831 according to the 1841 census for Stoneykirk Wigtownshire his age is 10yrs
